Hannah Tofalos is a ceramic designer. She graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in July 2005. Since then Hannah has been building up her business Hannah Tofalos Homeware by continuing designing, exhibiting at well-known fairs and selling her work in galleries and retail outlets.

“I have had a love of ceramics since secondary school and continued to specialise in the material throughout my A-levels, art foundation and University. What I find irresistible about ceramics is its many possibilities; there are endless ways of manipulation through texture, surface pattern and colour and I always had a flare for exploiting these qualities through my work. It was only at University that I discovered slip-casting, a method of mass producing ceramics. Unlike other techniques slip-casting allowed me to create professional, clean-lined shapes and repeat them over and over perfectly. I like to design products that can stack as I find it fascinating how the products interact as a group.
Most recent work includes extending my range to include plates and cups but I am also working on transfer designs. I have always had an interest in pattern and love experimenting with watercolours. I hope that with the development of surface pattern I will personalise the Hannah Tofalos Homeware brand even further. “

Hannah has exhibited at fairs such as 100% Design, Pulse and Chelsea Crafts Fair, London. Hannah Tofalos Homeware is now being sold in over ten galleries and shops across the UK. Check out the press page for Hannah’s extensive coverage.
